Iran launches «Khaneh Omid» housing scheme, targeting 220,000 units for the bottom four income deciles in 1405

29 July 2026 · 2 months ago

The head of the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation announced the launch of the «Khaneh Omid» (House of Hope) scheme at a conference in Ardabil on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405), saying 220,000 residential units are planned under the scheme for the current Iranian year. According to Manouchehr Khajehdalouei, close to four million households in income deciles one to four have no housing, of which about 2.9 million live in cities.

He said more than 40,000 land plots have so far been secured and handed to the provinces, and that the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has committed to providing the required urban land free of charge. Under a government decision, each unit carries a 5 billion rial (500 million toman) interest-free loan at a 5% fee with 20-year repayment, giving a monthly instalment of about 30 million rials (3 million tomans).

Khajehdalouei added that the foundation has allocated a 2 billion rial (200 million toman) grant per unit from the Imam's Account 100, and that applicants covered by the Imdad Committee or the Welfare Organisation receive up to a further 5 billion rials in grants. Building permits for these units are free, and engineering-body services are provided free or at discounts of up to 70% in many provinces.
