Iran's car market stays subdued on Wednesday as the currency's rise fails to pass through to prices

29 July 2026 · 2 months ago

Iran's domestic car market showed only a limited price response on Wednesday 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405) despite a rise in the exchange rate. Market reports on the day describe trading as still depressed, with price movement limited, scattered and uneven.

The free market dollar stood at 193,000 tomans as of 13:29 on the same day, 1.47 percent above the previous day. In earlier episodes a jump in the exchange rate usually fed through to domestic and imported car prices after a short lag; thin trading volume is one of the reasons market participants give for the delay this time.

The figures and descriptions refer to market conditions on Wednesday 29 July 2026.
