Iran's central bank launches the Hesam system to reorganise bank accounts

The Central Bank of Iran has launched a system called Hesam to reorganise bank accounts. The announcement was reported on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026 (12 Mordad 1405).
According to the report, the launch shows that remote banking services are no longer only a convenience tool for customers but have become part of the machinery for financial transparency and risk reduction across the banking network.
Reorganising bank accounts has been one strand of central bank policy in recent years, aimed at rented accounts and transactions without an underlying economic basis. It bears directly on participants in the currency, gold and crypto markets who settle through personal accounts.
