Iran's Population Headquarters: Families With Three or More Children Entitled to 200 Square Meters of Land; 20 Percent of Applicants Have Received Land So Far

Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi, secretary of Iran's National Population Headquarters, said Sunday, 18 Mordad 1405 (August 9, 2026), according to Ecoiran (citing Chandsanieh), that under articles 3 and 4 of the Family and Youth Population Support Law, families with three or more children are entitled to 200 square meters of land, and that 20 percent of applicants have received their land allocation so far. Citing an 8.9 percent drop in births in 1404 compared with the prior year, and a further 6.9 percent decline in the first four months of 1405, she said 74.7 percent of young Iranians view economic conditions as the main factor affecting decisions to have children. Her figures also showed the average marriage age is 24.1 for women and 28.4 for men, with the average age of mothers at first childbirth at 27.6 nationally and 30.8 in Tehran.
