Iran's Tax Administration says spring tax revenue grew 35 percent, still below the inflation rate

Iran's National Tax Administration said on Sunday, 26 July 2026, that tax revenue grew 35 percent in the spring quarter of the Iranian year 1405. According to the organisation, that rate remained below the inflation rate, and it said this had eased the tax burden on the production sector.
Nominal tax revenue growing more slowly than inflation means the government's tax take has shrunk in constant prices. For the equity market this cuts two ways: the real tax burden on listed companies gets lighter, while the shortfall in budget resources widens, a path that in past years has usually led to debt issuance or borrowing and ultimately to more inflationary pressure.
Sahmino has previously reported on the food-coupon scheme and the government spokesman's comments about the absence of a sustainable funding source for raising it; the spring tax figures belong in that same budget revenue and spending frame.
