Land and housing ownership claims to be registered only through the official Kateb system

Eghtesad Online reported late on Tuesday 28 July 2026 that a deputy head of Iran's Deeds and Property Registration Organisation said claims of ownership over land and housing will be registered only through the official Kateb system.
Centralising ownership claims in a single official system is generally intended to reduce conflicting cases, prevent duplicate title documents and make the legal status of properties more transparent. Clarity of ownership is one of the variables affecting liquidity and transaction risk in the housing market.
The announcement came after the question of managing land prices had been raised in economic media in recent days as parliament's stated strategy for containing the housing crisis.
