Majlis National Security Committee Spokesman: Reopening Hormuz Is "Impossible" Until Iran's Conditions Are Met; Nuclear Doctrine Review Also Raised

Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said this morning, Sunday 11 October 2026 (19 Mehr 1405), at a gathering of deputies and political guides of Iran's police forces from across the country, that Iran's management of the Strait of Hormuz is "getting firmer by the day" and that it is "impossible" for the strait to reopen until Iran's declared conditions are met. EcoIran reported the remarks citing ISNA, and Donya-e-Eqtesad also relayed them.
He also said that the question of revisiting Iran's nuclear doctrine is gaining strength by the day among the public, experts and officials. The report does not spell out Iran's "declared conditions" for reopening the strait and does not announce any new decision or resolution; it records the stated position of a parliamentary official.
The Strait of Hormuz is the main export route for Persian Gulf oil and liquefied gas, so any stance on transit through it bears on the energy market and on maritime shipping risk.
