Paul Atkins, chair of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said in an interview with Fox Business that the digital asset market transparency bill known as the CLARITY Act faces a key procedural vote in the US Senate on September 15, 2026. According to ArzDigital, the vote is not the bill's final passage but concerns formally opening debate on it, and supporters need at least 60 votes to clear that stage. The bill, which would set a federal framework dividing oversight of the digital asset market between the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), passed the US House of Representatives in July 2025 by a vote of 294 to 134, and the Senate Banking Committee advanced its own version in May 2026 by 15 votes to 9. Atkins said he hopes the bill will ultimately reach President Donald Trump's desk for signature.
