Tehran Stock Exchange's main index (TEDPIX) entered the 6.3 million point range for the first time in its history on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 (4 Shahrivar 1405), the last trading day of the first week of Shahrivar. According to the Iran Banking and Economic News Agency (Ibena), the index gained 162,697 points, or 2.6 percent, to reach the 6,386,000 point range, marking another fresh record for the capital market; the rally came even as US sanctions on Iran intensified.
The rally was broad based: Bank Mellat (Vabmellat), National Iranian Copper Industries (Fmelli), Mobarakeh Steel (Fooladf), Iran Khodro (Khodro) and Isfahan Refinery (Shepna) each gained close to the daily band ceiling and led the market's trading value. Per Tehran Stock Exchange system data recorded as of 1:24pm Tehran time, the index closed at 6,386,577 points, up from Tuesday's close of 6,223,879.
