Tehran's peak hour electricity demand falls by more than 10 percent
28 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The chief executive of the Greater Tehran Electricity Distribution Company said that with the cooperation of Tehran residents, the city's electricity demand during peak hours has fallen by more than 10 percent. The announcement was published on Monday 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405).
Reducing load during peak hours is one of the tools for managing summer power shortfalls, and it feeds directly into how much curtailment is imposed on the industrial sector. Listed energy intensive industries including steel, cement and petrochemicals are the most sensitive to electricity rationing in these months.
