Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company now ranks fifth among buyers in some short term US Treasury auctions, and considers itself the fifth largest buyer of US Treasuries overall once hedge fund activity is excluded. According to Arzdigital, he said Tether expects to rank among the top 10 Treasury buyers overall by the end of 2026.
The report said Tether now directly holds more than 122 billion dollars in US Treasuries, with 83 percent of its reserves held in short term Treasuries, a volume that has pushed it past countries such as Germany, the UAE, Spain and Australia in Treasury holdings. Ardoino said Tether adds about 30 million new users every quarter and that its user base has reached about 530 million people.
