Crypto Market Jumps as Post Fed Rate Hike Jitters Fade; Bitcoin Tops $80,700

According to CoinDesk on Friday, September 18, 2026 (27 Shahrivar 1405), the crypto market staged a broad advance as inflation worries from the US Federal Reserve's rate hike (a 0.25 percentage point increase to a range of 3.75 to 4 percent on Wednesday, September 16) began to fade. Layer 2 and DeFi tokens led the move: starknet gained 18 percent, arbitrum 17 percent and uniswap 13 percent over 24 hours, while CoinDesk's DeFi Select Index rose 8.3 percent. CoinDesk attributed the rally to the 10 year US Treasury yield slipping back below 5 percent and Brent crude easing below 103 dollars, which eased the inflation scare that followed the rate increase.
