Gold and Coin Prices in Tehran Rise for a Third Straight Day; 18-Karat Gold Tops 21 Million Tomans

23 August 2026 · 2 months ago

According to the Tehran Gold and Jewelry Union, as reported by Ecoiran on the morning of Sunday, Shahrivar 1, 1405 (August 23, 2026), every domestic gold and coin item rose for a third consecutive day, even as global spot gold eased slightly to 4,603 dollars an ounce. Eighteen karat gold reached 21,469,200 tomans a gram and 24 karat gold reached 28,622,000 tomans a gram today; the 18 karat rate is up about 4.7 percent from Saturday's 11:29 a.m. level of 20,512,000 tomans, per Sahmino's own price data.

In the coin market, the new design Emami coin reached 209,500,000 tomans and the old design coin 206,000,000 tomans; the half coin traded at 106,500,000 tomans, the quarter coin at 56,500,000 tomans, and the gram coin at 30,000,000 tomans. The back to back gains in Tehran's gold and coin market extend a multi week rally in global spot gold, which Ecoiran has linked to the US Treasury's expanded long bond buyback program and a weaker dollar.
