Alireza Khodabandeh, CEO of Khorasan Razavi's power distribution company, said at a meeting of the province's renewable power development task force on the morning of Saturday, 7 Shahrivar 1405 (August 29, 2026), that the province's renewable power capacity grew 300 percent compared with the start of the Iranian year 1404 (which began in March 2025). According to Khabaronline, he said the province aims, under its 1406 (2027/28) horizon target, to build a total of 3,000 megawatts of renewable capacity across five sectors, industrial, administrative, agricultural, residential and investment, and that its targets for 1404 have been met.
Khodabandeh said Khorasan Razavi leads the country in the agricultural sector with 65 megawatts of solar capacity, while the next ranked province has only about 4 megawatts in that category. He said the province needs to add another 600 megawatts of renewable capacity in 1405 (2026/27) to stay on track for the 3,000 megawatt target by 1406.
