According to Boursenews, Tehran Stock Exchange's main index (TEDPIX) fell 1.21 percent to 6,503,000 points on the last trading day of the past week, Wednesday, 11 Shahrivar 1405 (September 2, 2026), snapping a streak of 20 consecutive daily gains; the equal weighted index dropped 1.46 percent to 1,798,000 points. At the peak of Wednesday morning's selling pressure, the main index fell more than 2 percent to 6,432,000 points before recovering part of the decline as demand picked up at lower prices. Retail trading value that day was about 40 trillion tomans, but a net roughly 5,600 billion tomans in real money left the market, and 65 percent of listed tickers closed lower.
As stocks fell, parallel markets rose: the free market dollar climbed from around 214,000 tomans on Tuesday to about 219,000 tomans on Wednesday, 18 karat gold reached about 22,600,000 tomans a gram, and the Emami coin reached around 226,000,000 tomans. Donya-e-Eqtesad, reporting the week's overall performance, said the main index gained 1.84 percent in the second week of Shahrivar even as the equal weighted index slipped 0.22 percent, a divergence the newspaper said reflected traders' growing preference for large, index moving stocks.
