Iran's currency, gold and coin markets traded choppily on Saturday, 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405). According to Ecoiran, the dollar reached a record high for the fourth time in the past two weeks, moving above 194,000 tomans during the session. Sahmino's own price board recorded the free market dollar at 193,700 tomans at 19:59 the same day, two readings from the same day pointing to a similar level.
In the same session the coin followed the currency higher into the 188 million toman channel, while the mesghal of melted gold advanced into the 81 million toman channel. According to Ecoiran, analysts attributed the swings in these markets to two factors: regional tensions and the hard line taken by the parties to the conflict on one side, and rumours of a petrol price increase on the other.
Measuring weekly returns for the week ending 10 Mordad 1405, the Tehran Stock Exchange main index led with a gain of 3.3 percent, while the mesghal of melted gold came second with a rise of 2.8 percent. The global gold ounce, by contrast, posted a negative return over the same week, meaning the gain in domestic gold over this period came mainly through the exchange rate rather than the world market.
