Trump said on 2 August 2026 that nuclear talks with Iran would begin on the afternoon of Monday 3 August 2026, but they did not begin on that date. Pakistani government sources told Anadolu on 3 August 2026 that no date or venue had been finalized and no meeting was scheduled in Islamabad within at least the following 24 hours. Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the same day Tehran has no negotiations under way with the United States; Islamabad and Doha are possible hosts.
