UAE Suspends Trade and Financial Relations With Iran

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement early Wednesday, 28 Mordad 1405 (August 19, 2026), that all trade activity, economic relations and financial transactions with Iran are suspended until further notice. The decision came hours after the UAE Ministry of Defense said it had detected two ballistic missiles near Dubai airspace, a claim Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson denied.

Saudi-led Red Sea/Gulf maritime security coalition to finalize framework

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defence said on Thursday, August 13, 2026, following the coalition's third meeting in Jeddah, that 13 of 15 signatory nations, including Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkiye and Yemen, formally joined the Multinational Maritime Defense Alliance. The coalition protects shipping through the Bab el Mandeb Strait, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan Sign Trilateral Mecca Defense Pact

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed a trilateral defense pact known as the "Mecca Pact" in Mecca on Friday, August 7, 2026 (16 Mordad 1405), under which an armed attack on any one of the three states is treated as an attack on all three. Saudi Aramco second-quarter 2026 results

Saudi Aramco published its second-quarter 2026 results on Tuesday 4 August 2026 (13 Mordad 1405). Adjusted net income for the April to June period came in at 125.2 billion Saudi riyals, or $33.4 billion, up 33% year on year and above the analyst expectation of $31.59 billion. The board approved a base dividend of $21.9 billion for the quarter, and the company said it sustained production and exports by using its East-West pipeline despite disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
