Dormant Bitcoin Wallet From 2014 Reactivates After 12 Years, Netting Its Early Holder a Gain of More Than 7,975 Percent

According to Arzdigital, published Monday, 10 August 2026 (19 Mordad 1405), a Bitcoin address that had been inactive since January 2014 reactivated after about twelve and a half years and moved its entire holding. Transaction details show the wallet held 26.96 bitcoin, transferred on 10 August 2026 in block number 961,845. The coins were worth about $803 each when first received, but the holding's value has now reached more than $1.75 million, a gain of close to 7,975 percent.
Galaxy Research, which reported the transfer on the social platform X, described it as part of a recent pattern of old bitcoin addresses reactivating; last week an address dating to 2011 holding about 50 bitcoin moved its assets to the FalconX exchange after 14 years of inactivity. Analysts say the reactivation of such dormant addresses can affect market supply and demand, though a transfer to a new address does not necessarily mean an immediate sale.
