Free Market Car Prices Rise Again Today, Mazda 3 Leads With 310 Million Toman Jump
Iran's free market car prices continued their recent upward trend on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 (25 Shahrivar 1405). According to Khabaronline, domestically made car prices rose between 5 and 40 million tomans; for example, the Iran Khodro Peugeot 207 automatic gained 13 million tomans to reach 2.833 billion tomans, while the Dena Plus automatic rose 10 million tomans to 3.35 billion tomans. Among assembled (CKD) models, price increases ranged from 10 to 310 million tomans, with the Mazda 3 posting the day's largest jump, up 310 million tomans to 9.31 billion tomans. The report said continued volatility in parallel markets, particularly gold and foreign exchange, along with political uncertainty, remains a key driver of car price moves in the free market. Sahmino's own pricing data confirms a similar upward move for comparable models over the same period.

Iran's Car Market Opens the Week Higher as Imported and Assembled Models Lead the Gains
Iran's car market opened the trading week higher on Saturday, September 12, 2026 (21 Shahrivar 1405). According to Ecoiran, the free market dollar rose about 1.3 percent (nearly 3,000 tomans) over the past three days, from 233,190 tomans on Wednesday to 236,100 tomans today, but some vehicles rose far more sharply: the Mercedes Benz C200 L jumped 1.5 billion tomans (about 8.1 percent) to 20 billion tomans, and the Volkswagen ID4 rose 900 million tomans (about 9.5 percent) to 10.35 billion tomans. Among assembled models, the Lamari Ima rose 400 million tomans (6.8 percent) to 6.3 billion tomans, and the Lucano L7 rose 200 million tomans to 8 billion tomans. Ecoiran said part of the increase reflects some models catching up on price gains they missed last week rather than a pure dollar reaction, while the domestic segment, weighed down by weak demand, has responded more slowly; the automatic Peugeot 207 Panorama fell 20 million tomans today.
