Tehran Stock Exchange Falls 1.23 Percent Today, Two Days After a Trading Core Glitch
Sep 2, 2026
Iran's capital market had a fully negative session on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 (11 Shahrivar 1405). According to Ecoiran, Tehran's main index (TEDPIX) fell 80,000 points, or 1.23 percent, closing at 6,503,000 points, while the equal weight index dropped 1.48 percent. By the close, 65 percent of market symbols were trading lower, and about 5.7 trillion tomans in net individual money left stocks, pre emptive rights and equity funds.
The decline came after Boursenews reported that Tuesday's session, September 1 (10 Shahrivar), was marked by a malfunction in the exchange's trading system, which in some symbols caused rapid order swings, to the point that names sitting in buy queues briefly saw a jump in sell orders and moved toward sell queues. Despite the glitch, the main index still rose 0.55 percent on Tuesday and retail trading value reached about 60 trillion tomans, but roughly 4.4 trillion tomans in net individual money had already left the market that same day. Ecoiran's report asked a capital market analyst whether today's drop was a reaction to yesterday's system glitch or whether the market, after a substantial rally in recent weeks, has simply entered a natural corrective phase.

Farabourse Iran Reports 16 Companies Improved Their Audit Opinion Within a Year
According to Boursenews, Jalal Baharestan, Farabourse Iran's deputy for issuer oversight, said that of 83 Farabourse listed companies identified in Shahrivar 1404 (August/September 2025) as having qualified audit opinions, 16 companies, or 20 percent, managed to have their auditor's opinion upgraded to "unqualified" by Shahrivar 1405 (August/September 2026) after a year of follow up. He said the total number of audit qualification clauses across these companies fell 30 percent over the same year. Baharestan said that after identifying the 83 companies, Farabourse engaged with issuers on the issues raised in their audit reports and asked their boards to submit corrective plans and clear timelines to resolve the ambiguities. He said the improvement was not limited to companies exiting qualified status, as other issuers have also improved reporting quality by clarifying their accounts and resolving financial disputes.
