The main US stock indexes opened higher on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405). According to Reuters, at the opening bell the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 226.2 points, or 0.44 percent, the S&P 500 gained 52.2 points, or 0.70 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 260.4 points, or 1.04 percent, with the Nasdaq reaching 25,236. The main driver was the pause in strikes between the United States and Iran over the weekend, which lifted risk appetite ahead of a week heavy with quarterly earnings and the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

A 6.3 percent slide in Brent crude to $90.60 a barrel weighed on energy shares, with Occidental Petroleum down 3.8 percent and Exxon Mobil down 2.6 percent. Stocks sensitive to fuel costs moved the other way: Delta rose 2.6 percent and American Airlines 3 percent, while cruise operators Royal Caribbean and Carnival each gained 3.2 percent.

Later in the session most of that advance was offset by a slide in chipmaker shares, and the S&P 500 gave back part of its early gain; trading was still under way at the time of publication. The Federal Open Market Committee meets on 6 and 7 Mordad.

Farabourse Iran Reports 16 Companies Improved Their Audit Opinion Within a Year

According to Boursenews, Jalal Baharestan, Farabourse Iran's deputy for issuer oversight, said that of 83 Farabourse listed companies identified in Shahrivar 1404 (August/September 2025) as having qualified audit opinions, 16 companies, or 20 percent, managed to have their auditor's opinion upgraded to "unqualified" by Shahrivar 1405 (August/September 2026) after a year of follow up. He said the total number of audit qualification clauses across these companies fell 30 percent over the same year. Baharestan said that after identifying the 83 companies, Farabourse engaged with issuers on the issues raised in their audit reports and asked their boards to submit corrective plans and clear timelines to resolve the ambiguities. He said the improvement was not limited to companies exiting qualified status, as other issuers have also improved reporting quality by clarifying their accounts and resolving financial disputes.
