US Treasury Sanctions 27 Iranian Passenger Airlines, Suspends Aircraft Return License
The US Treasury's OFAC added 27 Iranian passenger airlines, including Iran Air Tour, Iran Aseman and Qeshm Air, to its sanctions list on September 8, 2026, and designated intermediary firms in the UAE, Turkey, Malaysia and Kazakhstan linked to Mahan Air. OFAC also suspended General License J1 for temporary aircraft returns, effective the same date, and issued a new wind down license, General License DD.
