FATF Plenary meeting - Paris, October 2026
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) holds its next Plenary session from October 26 to 30, 2026 (4-8 Aban 1405) in Paris. At these sessions, the international body reviews member and non-member countries' compliance with anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing standards and updates its list of high-risk jurisdictions.

UN Security Council Vote on Renewing Iran Sanctions Expert Panel
The UN Security Council is scheduled to vote on Thursday, September 17, 2026 (26 Shahrivar 1405) on renewing the mandate of the panel of experts monitoring Iran sanctions, which expires September 26, 2026 (4 Mehr 1405). Russia and China said in a joint statement in March 2026 that the Council no longer has authority to continue the panel's work, and diplomats have raised the possibility that Moscow and Beijing could veto the renewal resolution.
Russian State Duma elections
Russia's State Duma elections will be held over three days from September 18 to 20, 2026, with the main voting day on September 20. Given Russia's role in OPEC+, the vote is relevant to energy-market and ruble positioning.
