Central Bank of Iran completes 1.5 point increase in bank reserve requirement ratio
On July 23, 2026 the Central Bank of Iran announced that the second stage of its reserve requirement ratio increase, a further 0.75 percentage point, applies to all banks and credit institutions, bringing the two stage total to 1.5 percentage points. It rests on item (1) of the resolutions of the 61st meeting of the Monetary and Foreign Exchange Policy Council held on April 26, 2026, and the Central Bank states the aim is to manage liquidity growth and curb inflation.
