Tehran pilot of Iran gasoline subsidy transfer to bank cards begins
Iran's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance said on Monday 3 August 2026 that the scheme moving the gasoline subsidy quota from fuel cards to bank cards had begun as a pilot in Tehran, with the oil and communications ministries and the Central Bank, and unrelated to any change in the gasoline price or quota ceilings. Outcome: the pilot started on 3 August 2026 and the programme director said the same day that nationwide rollout would follow by the middle to late part of autumn 1405.
