According to Khabaronline, published Saturday, August 22, 2026 (31 Mordad 1405), official foreign trade data show Iran imported about $14.8 billion in goods from the UAE in the first ten months of the Iranian year 1404 (roughly April 2025 to February 2026), giving the UAE a roughly 30.2 percent share of Iran's total import value and making it Iran's top import source. Over the same period, Iran's exports to the UAE totaled about $6.5 billion, putting two way trade at roughly $21.3 billion. Iran's imports from the UAE include industrial machinery and equipment, electronic parts and goods, auto parts, raw materials and consumer and food products; Iran's exports to the UAE are mainly petrochemical products, minerals and metals, iron and steel, copper, bitumen, and agricultural goods such as pistachios and saffron.

Khabaronline's analysis says the $14.8 billion figure does not equal a direct loss of that size, since part of these goods can be sourced through other channels such as China, Turkey, India or Oman; the main cost, it says, is rebuilding the payment, shipping, insurance and customs clearance chain built around Dubai over many years. The report estimates that if rerouting the $21.3 billion in two way trade adds just 5 to 15 percent in extra cost, the added burden on Iran's economy would run from about $1.1 billion to $3.2 billion, figures it describes as a scenario estimate rather than a firm forecast. The report says Iran's currency market is the first channel through which this disruption's pressure will be transmitted.

13th Islamic Treasury Bond Auction Sees Weak Demand; Only One of Four Symbols Sold

According to central bank data, Iran's 13th Islamic treasury bond auction was held on Wednesday, 11 Shahrivar 1405 (September 2, 2026), offering about 48 trillion tomans of bonds across four symbols, Arad296, Arad297, Arad299 and Arad304, but only Arad304 found buyers. According to Ecoiran, the buyers were primary dealers, who placed a combined 20,370 billion tomans in bids for that symbol. Total sales in this auction were lower than the average per-auction sales under the new system (21,800 billion tomans) and lower than the previous three auctions, though still higher than sales levels from before the primary-dealer market was set up, when banks were required to buy the bonds. The yield on these bonds is set under an agreed contract between the government and the primary dealers.
