ASML shares slide on a report that China has begun mass producing DUV lithography tools

Jul 27, 2026

Shares in the Dutch group ASML, the world's largest maker of chipmaking lithography machines, fell about 8.4 percent in Amsterdam on Monday, 27 July 2026, making it the heaviest drag on Europe's technology sector.

The decline followed a report that a Shanghai based, state backed company has begun mass producing immersion deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography tools. According to the report, the company plans to build about five systems this year and around 20 in 2027, well below the 131 immersion DUV systems ASML produced last year. Investors nonetheless read the news as an early sign of domestic substitution taking hold in China.

Farabourse Iran Reports 16 Companies Improved Their Audit Opinion Within a Year

According to Boursenews, Jalal Baharestan, Farabourse Iran's deputy for issuer oversight, said that of 83 Farabourse listed companies identified in Shahrivar 1404 (August/September 2025) as having qualified audit opinions, 16 companies, or 20 percent, managed to have their auditor's opinion upgraded to "unqualified" by Shahrivar 1405 (August/September 2026) after a year of follow up. He said the total number of audit qualification clauses across these companies fell 30 percent over the same year. Baharestan said that after identifying the 83 companies, Farabourse engaged with issuers on the issues raised in their audit reports and asked their boards to submit corrective plans and clear timelines to resolve the ambiguities. He said the improvement was not limited to companies exiting qualified status, as other issuers have also improved reporting quality by clarifying their accounts and resolving financial disputes.
