French producer price inflation eased to 2.6% in June, retreating from May's three year high

France's national statistics institute (INSEE) reported on Friday, 31 July 2026, that the country's domestic producer prices rose 2.6% in June 2026 from June a year earlier. The rate stood at a revised 3.1% in May, which was the highest level of French producer price inflation in three years. The Trading Economics forecast for June was 2.7%.
On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 0.6% in June, after a revised minus 0.2% in May. French producer price inflation has averaged 1.89% since 1996, with an all time high of 29.5% in August 2022 and a record low of minus 8.2% in March 2024.
The data was published on the same day that France's preliminary July consumer inflation accelerated from 1.8% to 2.1%. Easing producer inflation in June set against accelerating consumer inflation in July suggests the fresh price pressure is coming more from energy and services than from the industrial production chain.

In the Black Sea, a cargo ship carrying Western military equipment for Ukraine came under Russian attack
Russia's defense ministry said on Sunday, 15 Shahrivar 1405 (6 September 2026), that its armed forces struck a cargo ship in the Black Sea that was carrying military equipment sent by Western supporters to Ukraine's armed forces. According to Russia's TASS news agency, carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad, the ministry said Russian units also struck a munitions plant in Boryspil, in the Kyiv region, at the same time. Russia and India are next stops for Iran's economy minister; Madanizadeh calls economic diplomacy a tool against sanctions
Seyed Ali Madanizadeh, Iran's minister of economic affairs and finance, said on Sunday, 15 Shahrivar 1405 (6 September 2026), that he is traveling to Moscow and then to New Delhi to attend a meeting of BRICS finance and economy ministers. According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, he said the Russia trip is for bilateral economic talks and to follow up on previously coordinated memorandums and contracts, while the India trip is for wide ranging talks with BRICS economy ministers amid what he called an economic war against Iran. Madanizadeh described Russia as one of Iran's key partners in trade, investment, financial links and energy transport, and stressed the importance of developing north to south international corridors linking Russia to markets in India. He said the BRICS meeting will cover development financing, banking cooperation, trade facilitation and joint investment funds, and that the government's goal is to use its foreign relations to counter sanctions and strengthen the domestic economy.

Fars News: New satellite images show three strike marks at Kuwait's Ahmad al Jaber base from Iran's attack
Fars News Agency published new satellite images on Sunday, 6 September 2026 (15 Shahrivar 1405), of Kuwait's Ahmad al Jaber air base, which it said show three dark spots and possible burn marks in the area where American aircraft and fighter jets are based. The images follow an earlier announcement by Iran's army that in the 31st phase of what it calls Operation Saeqeh, it struck satellite communication systems, equipment warehouses and fighter jet hangars at the base with missiles and drones, damaging the communication systems and hangars. Fars said foreign media had also reported Iran's strike on the base on September 3 (12 Shahrivar). No independent damage assessment has been published so far, and US or Kuwaiti officials have not confirmed the details of the attack. Any widening of strikes on US facilities in Persian Gulf states keeps the geopolitical risk premium in global oil and gold prices elevated.
