Gold fund trading value tops 2,325 billion tomans on Sunday

Jul 26, 2026

According to Eghtesad Online, just 30 minutes after trading opened on Sunday, 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405), the value of buy orders for gold funds overtook the value of sell orders, reaching 144 billion tomans. Trading value in these funds passed 2,325 billion tomans the same day, and 12 funds saw retail money inflows.

The shift in demand came on a day when domestic benchmark gold prices retreated. On Sahmino's price board as of 13:30 on Sunday, 4 Mordad, a gram of 18-carat gold was down about 1.22 percent at 18,035,000 tomans, while cash melted gold was trading down close to 1.4 percent.

Gold funds are the main vehicle for non-physical gold investment for Tehran Stock Exchange investors, and their trading value is one gauge of hedging demand in Iran's capital market.

Labor minister announces installment gold purchase at fixed price for retirees via Zarrin Tamin platform

Ahmad Meidari, Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, announced on Monday, September 14, 2026 (23 Shahrivar 1405), that retirees can now buy gold in installments at a fixed price. Under the plan, retirees register on the Bank Refah "Zarrin Tamin" platform with their national ID and declare how much gold they want to buy over the next three months; the cost is then deducted from their monthly pension over that period. Meidari said the gold price is locked in from registration until the end of the three month period, so any price increase in that window becomes a gain for the retiree. The purchase ceiling is set according to the central bank's sales authorization. He added that the gold supplied under the plan does not come from bank reserves but from domestic mine output, with proceeds reinvested to expand the country's gold production.
