Michael Saylor, chairman of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), said in recent posts on X that the company's bitcoin holdings have remained unchanged at 845,050 BTC. Strategy has spent more than $63.7 billion on the position at an average price of $75,412 per bitcoin, now showing roughly $2 billion in unrealized gains; the firm has recently directed a significant share of its cash toward share buybacks.

Meanwhile, asset manager Strive, led by Matt Cole, said it bought 469 more bitcoin for $36.6 million, an average of $77,954 each, taking its total holdings to 25,000 BTC. Cole said the purchase was funded entirely through Strive's STRC preferred stock, whose outstanding face value has now surpassed $1 billion.

Bitcoin Falls Below $77,000

Bitcoin fell below the $77,000 level on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. According to Arzdigital, the decline came as hopes faded for progress on the US Senate's crypto market structure bill, the CLARITY Act. Donya-e-Eqtesad reported that crypto markets fell broadly the same day, a move it attributed not only to the US regulatory uncertainty but also to rising concern over the impact of monetary tightening and the Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook on risk assets. Live data from tgju.org showed bitcoin trading around $76,850 as of 4 PM Tehran time on Tuesday.

US Justice Department files complaint to forfeit $61 million in crypto tied to Iranian oil sales

The US Department of Justice claimed in the early hours of Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as reported by IRNA, that it has filed a complaint to forfeit about $61 million in cryptocurrency proceeds from black market sales of sanctioned Iranian crude oil and petroleum products. The department alleged the Iranian government used a network of crypto actors in China and elsewhere to launder more than $1.5 billion in illicit oil revenue to benefit the military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Shawn Buckley, deputy US attorney for the Southern District of New York, described the action as a sign of US resolve to deprive Iran and its proxies of these funds, and FBI official James C. Barnacle Jr. said the complaint demonstrates the ability to trace and halt crypto flows to governments evading sanctions. The complaint alleges two Chinese companies, Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale, used trading accounts on the Binance exchange in the UAE to launder Iranian oil revenue and transfer it to the Iranian government and its representatives.

Analysts: Brazil's new central bank rules could force 290 crypto exchanges out of the market

According to Arzdigital, strict new rules from Brazil's central bank could force up to 290 of the roughly 300 virtual asset service providers currently active in the country out of the market. Under the new requirements, crypto firms must hold capital of up to 37.2 million reais, about $7.2 million, depending on their classification, a threshold beyond the reach of small and early-stage platforms. Analysts estimate only 10 to 25 companies have the financial structure to apply for a license, with roughly 10 expected to ultimately obtain one; firms have until October 30, 2026, to apply, and those that do not will have 30 days to wind down operations. Isabel Longhi, Ripple's Latin America public policy director, told Brazil's Valor Investe that the regulation aims to separate legitimate players from bad actors, but warned that removing small firms based solely on size could temporarily curb innovation in Brazil.
