Central Bank to Issue First Ever Standard Parallel Forward Coin Notes With a Guaranteed 7 Percent Return

According to ISNA, carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Saturday, September 5, 2026 (14 Shahrivar 1405), the Central Bank of Iran said it will issue the country's first ever Standard Parallel Forward Coin Notes on 18 Shahrivar 1405 (September 9, 2026). The new financial instrument is intended to widen investment access to the gold coin market and help contain the inflationary effects of liquidity growth. Per the report, the notes carry a three month maturity: buyers purchase a coin at its market discovered price at issuance and can claim the coin's value three months later under the announced terms. The notes also carry a guaranteed minimum return, letting holders exercise a put option to sell at maturity for a price equal to 7 percent above the price discovered on the issuance day. Details on the offering method, pricing and trading terms are to be announced through the Central Bank's own information portal and the Iran Mercantile Exchange.

Tehran's gold and coin market extended its gains on Monday, 9 Shahrivar 1405 (August 31, 2026), even as the global gold ounce slipped. According to Donya e Eqtesad at 11:06am Tehran time, the Emami coin's price rose to 217,500,000 tomans today. Live data from tgju.org put the Emami coin at 218,010,000 tomans over the same hours, up 1.39 percent from the same day last week (Tuesday, 3 Shahrivar, at 215,000,000 tomans). The rise came as global spot gold, per Sahmino's data at the same hour, was down 0.27 percent at 4,442.2 dollars an ounce, suggesting the rise in Iran's domestic dollar rate, rather than the global gold price, was the main driver behind Tehran's gold and coin market today.
