Apple launched the iPhone eighteen Pro one hundred dollars dearer; that hundred is not a hundred everywhere. At one terabyte the gap with the previous generation reaches three hundred dollars, three times the headline number. The ladder is clear: the more memory a model carries, the wider its gap with last year. In July, Tim Cook said the memory market is in a hundred year flood and Apple reluctantly raised prices. But the other end sits in Tehran. On last year's launch day the free market dollar was one hundred thousand tomans. Of the one hundred sixty eight million toman rise in one year, ninety four percent was the dollar, not Apple. The real hardware change is the camera: a variable aperture, for the first time on an iPhone. Four aperture settings, a forty eight megapixel sensor, and four K video at one hundred twenty frames. Two things matter for Iran: the Duo has no physical SIM and cannot be registered for now. At today's price the iPhone Duo is about twenty eight months of this year's minimum base pay. The same phone is about eleven days of work in Germany; that gap measures purchasing power, not price. Three variables set the toman price: the dollar, the registry decision, and global memory prices. The bottom line: for an Iranian buyer this is more a currency story than a technology story. One hundred dollars was not one hundred dollars, because the dollar did most of the work this year.
