By around 11:00 a.m. on Monday, 22 Tir 1405 (13 July 2026), Tehran's main index (TEDPIX) was down about 1.9% at 4,961,293, staying below the 5-million mark for a sixth straight session. At the same hour the free-market dollar traded near 179,800 tomans and 18-karat gold near 17,660,000 tomans a gram. A roughly 4% jump in Brent crude to about $79, driven by Strait of Hormuz tension, failed to lift equities.

This Monday midday, July thirteenth, the winners were oil and the dollar, and the loser was the stock market. Tehran's main index stayed below five million and fell for a sixth straight session. Here's the puzzle: why didn't pricier oil turn the bourse green this time? The free-market dollar held near one hundred seventy-nine thousand eight hundred tomans, close to its record. Eighteen-karat gold neared seventeen point six million tomans a gram; the coin, near one seventy-eight million. By around eleven a.m., the main index shed about ninety-four thousand points, roughly one point nine percent. The over-the-counter index also fell about one and a half percent, as selling was broad. In Sunday's session, about four and a half trillion tomans of real money left equities. In global crypto, Bitcoin and Ethereum both eased close to two percent. In steel, size-twelve ribbed rebar was listed near sixty-six thousand tomans a kilo. In autos, the dispute over the fifteen percent price hike remains unresolved. Building materials were quiet, with energy costs offset by weak construction demand. Globally, Brent crude reached about seventy-nine dollars, while spot gold slipped. The oil jump was driven by the effective halt of large-vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Over the past year, the free-market dollar has risen close to one hundred two percent. Through the close, watch real-money flow and news from the Strait of Hormuz. Per shipping trackers, large-vessel transit through Hormuz has effectively stopped. So which would you hold: stocks, the dollar, or gold? Comment below.
