Iran Market Pulse: Wednesday Midday, August 5, 2026; TEDPIX Up 2.44% and Past 5.4 Million Points
In its first session after the Arbaeen holiday, the Tehran Stock Exchange main index rose 128,784 points, or 2.44%, past the 5.4 million mark to 5,406,137 by 11:05 on Wednesday 14 Mordad 1405 (5 August 2026). Almost the entire gain was booked in the first five minutes of trading. The free-market dollar retreated from Monday's level, 18-karat gold gained 0.99%, and Brent, below $79 in the morning, was back at $80.20 by midday.

If you held ten million toe-mahns of stock, you were about two hundred forty four thousand toe-mahns ahead by midday. The main index reached five million four hundred six thousand points, up two point four four percent. The equal weight index rose two point three nine percent and the Faraa Boors index two point five eight percent. But here is the catch: almost all of that gain was booked in the first five minutes of trading. In the same hour, spot gold rose two point zero eight percent to four thousand one hundred sixty four dollars. Eighteen karat gold reached eighteen million four hundred fifteen thousand toe-mahns a gram, near one percent higher. But coins rose more slowly than the metal inside them, half a percent against gold's one percent. In currency, the free market dollar traded below Monday and the agreed rate did not move at all today. Now the real question: why did the main index outrun the equal weight index today? Because the largest listed industries, base metals and chemicals, earn their revenue in dollars. The funds show it: cement funds up as much as three percent, gold funds slightly down. In the same hour Brent crude turned around and climbed back above eighty dollars. For the afternoon, keep an eye on these few things. Today's verdict is clear: equities won and the parallel market fell behind. So back to the opening question: stocks led today, not the dollar. If you had to buy one, stocks or gold?
