Everyone's talking about new US sanctions today, but Tehran's main index just hit an all time high. This is the fourth straight session that Tehran's main index has set a fresh record for itself. IRDR, DJBR, PNES, IKCO and BMLT were today's most active names on the Tehran bourse. Unlike the bourse, the free market dollar and gold barely moved at all today. The equal weight index also rose one point three six percent, so today's rally was broad based. This jump came right as the US published fresh details of its sanctions campaign against Iran. Stocks hit a record, gold and the dollar stayed calm, and China's Iranian oil imports fell. Pharma, banking and refining stocks saw the strongest buying demand today. Bitcoin topped eighty one thousand dollars overnight, a peak not seen in several weeks. China's Iranian oil imports dropped sharply this past month, according to Reuters data. Today's verdict is this. Tehran's bourse neither dodged sanctions today nor fled them, it set a record instead. So today's answer is clear: stocks set the record, not sanctions. Does it hold through the week?
