As of 11:05 a.m. on Monday, 12 Mordad 1405 (3 August 2026), the Tehran Stock Exchange main index stood at 5,276,664 points, up 122,607 points or 2.38% on the previous close. But the tick-by-tick record shows 117,518 points of that gain, about 96% of it, was already booked at the 9:05 a.m. opening print, and the market added only 0.1% in the two hours that followed. At the same hour the free-market dollar was 191,050 tomans and a gram of 18-karat gold 18,329,560 tomans.

Transcript

Today is Monday, August third, and the teh-RAAN Stock Exchange is up two point four percent at half session. By eleven o'clock this morning the main index had reached five million two hundred seventy six thousand points. But ninety six percent of that gain had already settled before the session's very first print. Look at today's board: all three indices are green, rebar is higher, and Brent crude is sharply lower. That is because the opening price comes from pre opening orders, and those orders were written last night. From nine oh five until eleven o'clock, the main index added only one tenth of a percent more. The equal weight index gained three tenths in that same window, more than three times as much. Three outcomes are on the table for the second half, from holding the gap to giving part of it back. Yesterday retail investors pulled one thousand two hundred seventy billion toe-MAANS out of fixed income funds. The free market dollar, however, did not move today and held at one hundred ninety one thousand toe-MAANS. Gold stood still as well; a gram of eighteen karat was only four hundredths of a percent higher than yesterday. Oil was the big loser; Brent fell about six percent and landed in the eighty three dollar channel. These few markets will show the effect of today's news earlier than the rest of the board does. This afternoon, these four things will make the rest of the trading session considerably clearer. Today's verdict is clear: stocks won, but this win was not built in today's trading session. So the answer to the opening question: today's number was ninety six, not two point four. Full analysis on Sah-mee-no.com.
