US stock futures slip on Tuesday as a fresh chip selloff meets megacap earnings and the Fed decision
US stock index futures traded lower ahead of the open on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405). S&P 500 futures dipped 0.1 percent and Nasdaq 100 futures fell 0.5 percent, while Dow futures rose 30 points, or 0.06 percent. The pressure came from a deepening selloff in chipmaker shares, as mounting doubts over the returns on billions of dollars of artificial intelligence spending dragged down Micron, Nvidia, SanDisk, AMD and SK Hynix from Wall Street to Asia. Markets are at the same time waiting for quarterly results from the megacap technology companies and the Federal Reserve's policy decision, both due this week. In Monday's regular session on 27 July, the Dow gained 0.51 percent and the S&P 500 rose 0.02 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.18 percent.

Iran's central bank high council approves and circulates rules for divesting banks' surplus assets through the capital market
The high council of Iran's central bank has approved and circulated to the banking network the procedure for divesting the banking system's properties and assets. The resolution sets out the route for selling banks' surplus assets through the capital market, and was reported on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405). Persian Gulf Petrochemical ordinary assembly fails to reach quorum, board election postponed
Mehr News Agency reported on Tuesday, 6 Mordad 1405 (28 July 2026), that the extraordinary ordinary general assembly of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, traded under the symbol Fars, failed to convene because it did not reach the legal quorum, and the election of new board members was postponed. Hours earlier the same company's extraordinary general assembly had convened with 78.8 percent shareholder attendance and approved a capital increase. Ahead of the assemblies, the Securities and Exchange Organisation had written formally to the holding's chief executive, noting the expiry of the board members' terms, the failure to elect new members, and the need to align the company's articles of association with the approved model articles, stating that until these matters were resolved the capital increase could not be approved. The postponement comes at a time when the previous board members' terms have already ended.
