Iran's Housing Inflation Hit 4.7% in Khordad; Why Did It Lag Food and Clothing? (Wednesday, July 8, 2026)

Iran's housing inflation rose just four point seven percent in Khordad this year. The housing, water, electricity and fuel group is nearly thirty eight percent of the basket. That is about one point one percentage points faster than the prior month. Central Bank data show this group's growth has been gradually accelerating. Food rose eight point seven percent, clothing nine point five, furniture ten percent. Growth climbed from one point six percent in Farvardin to four point seven in Khordad. Most Iranian leases run a full year, so rents lag today's market rate. Utility costs use low volatility state tariffs, which also dampen this group's growth. Annual inflation reached fifty seven point seven percent nationwide. Each lease renewal passes part of the rent gap through into the index. The Central Bank published its Khordad report on Tuesday, June thirtieth. Field surveys put Tehran home prices near one hundred ninety one million tomans per meter.
