The main index of the Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 (16 Shahrivar 1405) at 6,907,617 points, a gain of 184,041 points, or 2.74 percent. In the previous session, on Sunday, September 6 (15 Shahrivar), the index had closed at 6,723,576 points.

The figure that matters today, however, is the breadth of that rise rather than its height. A Sahmino screen across 366 equity and rights symbols on the Tehran bourse, taken at the close of this same session, shows 362 symbols finished higher, 3 finished lower and 1 was unchanged. All three of the losing symbols fell by less than half a percentage point.

Background

The Tehran bourse has just come through several fast weeks. Drawing on Sahmino's own price series, TEDPIX closed at 5,520,341 points on 17 Mordad 1405 (August 8, 2026) and at 6,907,617 points today; both figures come from our own daily record, each on its own date.

Along the way, on Wednesday, 11 Shahrivar 1405 (September 2, 2026), the index's run of consecutive gains ended and the market closed down 1.21 percent. We covered that session earlier in our report on the end of TEDPIX's winning streak. Three sessions later, the market is climbing again. Saturday, 7 Shahrivar, was another strong session, which we examined in our report on liquidity flowing into the equity market.

The numbers

Every figure below refers to the close of trading on Monday, 16 Shahrivar 1405 (September 7, 2026), unless another date is given beside it.

  • TEDPIX (Tehran Stock Exchange main index): 6,907,617 points, up 184,041 points and 2.74 percent.
  • Tehran Stock Exchange equal weighted index: 1,902,454 points, up 48,004 points and 2.59 percent.
  • Iran Farabourse main index: 53,607 points, up 1,302 points and 2.49 percent. The bourse and the Farabourse are two separate exchanges with two separate indices, and the two figures must never be treated as one.
  • Tehran bourse trade value in our own series: about 39,608 billion tomans, across 734,250 trades.
  • Of 366 Tehran bourse equity and rights symbols: 362 closed higher, 3 closed lower, 1 was unchanged.
  • The three losing symbols of the day: Kaveh, down 0.45 percent; Lakhazar, down 0.22 percent; and Saman, down 0.07 percent.
  • 103 symbols closed at a gain of 2.99 percent or more. The largest gain recorded on the day was 3 percent, including in Shabriz, Sefars and Khazamia.

On turnover, the heaviest symbols of the day, by trade value, were these: Vabmellat (Bank Mellat) at about 753 billion tomans, at a price of 1,515 rials and up 2.99 percent; Aco at about 723 billion tomans, up 0.95 percent; Vamadanh (a rights symbol) at about 690 billion tomans, up 2.98 percent; Shapna at about 502 billion tomans, at 13,540 rials and up 2.97 percent; Vatejarat (Bank Tejarat) at about 410 billion tomans, at 986 rials and up 2.92 percent; and Shasta at about 387 billion tomans, at 3,068 rials and up 2.99 percent. Foulad closed at about 229 billion tomans of turnover, up 2.99 percent. These figures come from a Sahmino screen over the same session's board data.

On the buying and selling side, Ecoiran reported on 16 Shahrivar 1405 that roughly 7,600 billion tomans of retail money entered the equity market during today's session, and the newspaper Donya e Eqtesad also attributed the day's rise to a marked increase in retail inflows. Separately, our own record of the market's retail and institutional flow runs through the session of 14 Shahrivar 1405 (September 5, 2026), and in that session net retail flow on the Tehran bourse was negative, at a net outflow of 710,966,908 shares. Those two figures carry different units, one in rials and the other a share count, and putting them side by side does not mean subtracting one from the other.

Drivers

What was measured today rests on a clear mechanism. TEDPIX weights its constituents by market capitalisation, so the bigger names move it more; the equal weighted index gives every symbol the same weight. The two are two different measurements of one market and do not have to produce the same number. Today TEDPIX rose 2.74 percent and the equal weighted index rose 2.59 percent, a distance of just 0.15 percentage points. When a day's gain covers almost the whole board, these two measures converge, and today they did.

Breadth can be counted directly, and that is what was done: 362 of 366 bourse symbols closed higher. This is a count over the closing prices of that same session, and any reader can open the same board and count it. Sahmino makes no claim about the cause of that breadth; what is reported is that on 16 Shahrivar 1405 the number of losing symbols on the Tehran bourse came to 3.

One point about the daily limit is also worth recording: the largest gain registered among these 366 symbols was 3 percent, and 103 symbols closed at 2.99 percent or above. That is close to a third of the board clustered near the largest gain available on the day.

On the size of the daily rise itself, Boursenews reported on 16 Shahrivar that the 184,041 point gain was the index's "largest daily rise". On the same day, Donya e Eqtesad framed it more cautiously, describing it as "one of the index's best daily performances this year". Sahmino quotes both accounts as they were published and passes no judgment of its own on any all time record; what our own series confirms is the figure of 184,041 points and 2.74 percent.

Outlook

This section is a reading, not news. The breadth of one session proves nothing about the next: a board that closes almost uniformly green on one day may not be uniform the day after. What today's data says is that today's gain was not confined to a handful of large names and reached nearly the entire board.

Sahmino recommends neither buying nor selling. What appears above is measurement, and every figure in it carries a date and a source.

Bottom line

Today, 16 Shahrivar 1405, TEDPIX rose 184,041 points and closed at 6,907,617, and of the 366 equity and rights symbols on this market only 3 closed red. That matters because it shows the day's gain was broad rather than concentrated: the equal weighted index also rose 2.59 percent, and its distance from TEDPIX narrowed to 0.15 percentage points. The one thing to remember: today the number of losing symbols on the Tehran bourse was 3.

Sahmino's reading as of 16 Shahrivar 1405 is this: TEDPIX stays above 6.7 million points, as long as daily trade value stays above 30,000 billion tomans. The level this reading is measured against is 6,700,000 points, and its horizon is the end of the current week. A close below 6.7 million points in any single session invalidates this reading.

What to watch

  • The count of rising and falling symbols in each session, the numerator and denominator of this report, countable on the board every day.
  • The distance between TEDPIX and the equal weighted index, which was 0.15 percentage points today; its widening or narrowing shows whether a gain is broad or concentrated.
  • Daily trade value, which in our series came to about 39,608 billion tomans today.
  • The count of symbols closing near the day's largest gain, which today was 103 symbols.
  • Prices across the other markets in the prices section, which show where liquidity is moving.

None of the above is trading advice; it is a list of the things that make today's figure measurable in the sessions that follow.
