Iran Market Pulse: Thursday Midday, 23 July 2026; Brent Holds Above $96 While Gold Slips From Its $4,150 Record
Midday market update, Thursday 23 July 2026 (Tehran bourse closed for the weekend); the only live board is the global market, and today two risk assets split. Brent crude held above $96 (96.29), up about 2%, while spot gold eased about 0.7% to around $4,109, pulling back from Wednesday's $4,150 record. Domestic prices are frozen on Wednesday's close: the free-market dollar near 192,000 tomans and gram gold about 19 million. Eyes are on the Federal Reserve meeting on 29 July.

This morning global gold set a fresh record; but by midday, it was oil that led the market higher. Brent crude stood at ninety six dollars and twenty nine cents at midday, up about two percent on the day. The main driver is concern over safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, keeping a floor under oil prices. On the global board today, only oil climbed, while gold and bitcoin were calmer and barely moved. Here is today's key point: two assets that rose together this morning split apart by the middle of the day. Spot gold eased about seven tenths of a percent to around four thousand one hundred and nine dollars, off its record. This pullback is a pause, not a collapse; gold is catching its breath before next week's Federal Reserve meeting. Costly oil is double edged for Iran: it can lift currency income, but adds fresh pressure on the rial and inflation. The domestic market is closed today for the weekend, so dollar and gold figures are frozen on Wednesday's close. Costlier oil hits refining, exports, gold and cars in Iran before almost anywhere else in the economy. The next anchor is the Federal Reserve meeting on July twenty ninth; the base case is that rates stay on hold. Into Saturday's reopening, watch four things: the oil price, gold's path, the Fed, and the bourse's reaction. Today's verdict is clear: the risk premium did not vanish, it simply moved from the gold market to oil. So the answer to this morning's question: at midday, oil won, not gold; full analysis on Sahmino dot com.
