A total of 53,900 vehicles are offered in this round: 16,170 for ordinary applicants, 26,950 under the family support and population youth scheme, and 10,780 for replacement of end-of-life vehicles. The models offered include manual and automatic Peugeot 207, manual Tara, dual-fuel and petrol Soren Plus, Rana Plus and various versions of Dena Plus. If applicants exceed the supply capacity, priority is set by lottery. Delivery is stated as 30 days for the immediate sale and 90 days for the extraordinary sale after payment and contract signing, with the final price calculated at the factory rate prevailing when the buyer is called. IEA says electric car sales set records in 50 countries in the second quarter of 2026, up 35 percent on the first quarter
The International Energy Agency said on Thursday 30 July 2026 (8 Mordad 1405), in a report titled "Electric Car Markets in a Time of Uncertainty", that global electric car sales rose 35 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter and reached record quarterly levels in 50 countries. According to the report, total global car sales fell by around 5 percent year on year between January and June 2026 as purchases declined in the two largest markets, China and the United States, under economic pressure, higher fuel prices and policy changes. Electric car sales had also fallen in the first quarter but rebounded sharply in the second. In Australia, Brazil, India, South Korea and Vietnam, sales roughly doubled between March and June compared with the same period of 2025, and more than 90 countries recorded year on year growth in the first half of 2026. The agency identified the main driver as the energy crisis caused by the war in West Asia, which brought fuel price volatility back into focus and, it said, pushed energy security up the agenda for oil importing countries. On the back of this momentum, electric cars are now expected to make up 29 percent of total global car sales in 2026, one percentage point above the agency's May estimate. Mercedes-Benz recalls 310,667 vehicles in the US over a driver's door lock fault
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Thursday, 30 July 2026, that Mercedes-Benz is recalling 310,667 vehicles in the United States. According to the regulator, the recall stems from the risk that an open door will not be detected. Corrosion of a microswitch in the driver's door lock can prevent the automatic parking brake from engaging, which can lead to unintended vehicle movement and a rollaway. According to the IRIB news agency, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, minister of industry, mining and trade, said on Thursday 30 July 2026 that around 70,000 to 75,000 imported vehicles, mostly economy models, have been allocated for import. He said the imports do not draw on government foreign currency but are funded from currency held in individuals' own deposits, and that those holding foreign currency can carry out these imports. Delhi targets vehicle electrification as EVs reach 12.7% of new sales

Tehran prosecutor makes VIN entry mandatory for import orders of heavy truck tractors
Tehran's public prosecutor said on Wednesday 29 July 2026 that expert reviews by his office found no requirement to enter a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) when filing an import order for heavy truck tractors. He said this gap allowed so-called blank import orders, filed without an identified vehicle, and the trading of those permits. According to the announcement, an order has been issued to Iran's Trade Promotion Organization to amend the import-order system so that a VIN must be entered at the time a truck-tractor order is filed, blocking registrations with an unspecified VIN. BYD unveils Japan's first electric kei car, base price just under 2.15 million yen
Chinese carmaker BYD unveiled its "Racco" electric mini vehicle at an event in Tokyo on Wednesday 29 July 2026. Iran's industry minister says import permits issued for about 75,000 vehicles

Saipa Diesel began production of Iran's first domestically built automatic light trucks on its assembly lines on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
