China GDP - Q2 2026 preliminary estimate
China's National Bureau of Statistics reported on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 that the economy grew 4.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, the slowest quarterly pace since late 2022 and below both the market forecast (4.5%) and the first-quarter rate (5.0%). First-half growth came in at 4.7% and quarter-on-quarter growth at 0.9%. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics released the June 2026 Consumer Price Index. Annual inflation eased to 3.5% (from 4.2% the prior month and below the 3.8% forecast), with the index down 0.4% on the month, largely on falling energy prices; core inflation (excluding food and energy) ran at 2.6% year over year and was flat on the month. The reading shapes Federal Reserve rate expectations and moves the dollar index and gold price, both key drivers of Iran's parallel FX and gold markets.
